HNLMS Zeeleeuw (S803) is a Walrus -class submarine of the Royal Netherlands Navy. She entered service in 1990 as the first submarine of the Walrus class, after the intended lead ship, HNLMS Walrus, was delayed for a long period following a serious fire during construction. [1]

The youngest boat, Zr.Ms. Bruinvis S810, is undergoing now the Instandhoudingsprogramma Walrusklasse (IPW) and like the Zeeleeuw en Dolfijn it will get a new commandocentre and a new optronic mast. The Walrus S802 did not get this IPW life-extension program and will also never get it, because it will be retired in 2023.

After some delay after workers found asbestos, the relaunch of the Zr.Ms. Zeeleeuw took place on 3 December, which is now ready to be commissioned. The next milestone will take place in March 2016 when the next submarine will be ready to be launched: the Zr.Ms. Dolfijn.

De Zr.Ms. Zeeleeuw ( S803) is een onderzeeboot van de Walrusklasse en een van de onderzeeboten in dienst bij de Koninklijke Marine . De Zeeleeuw is van de huidige onderzeeboten het eerste gedoopt. Het schip werd te water gelaten op 20 juni 1987. De kiel van het schip werd al gelegd in 1981.
